Why you should quit vaping
In this new decade, for young people such as myself and even younger, a new threat to our health emerges. Marketed directly to young people with their bright colours, low and affordable prices, various sweet flavours and low percentages of nicotine’ vapes are becoming more and more popular..
There are even some companies of brands such as the Suorin Vagon vape that looks exactly like a highlighter and can easily be concealed in school supplies, proving it is marketed for underage children to use in school.
But honestly the creativity of these brands doesn’t stop there. You can even buy a vape that looks exactly like an asthma inhaler which I find ironic.
If you truly want to understand the severity of the industry targeting teens then watch the documentary of The Rise and Fall of Juul. It covers issues such as advertising to youth and the severity of the exploitation of young minds.
But the reason younger children have taken up this form of nicotine use is because it is believed to be significantly less damaging than smoking normal cigarettes. With many scientists validating it because it doesn’t contain the dark tar like substance. That is also why they are so easy to acquire from shop owners, many simply don’t care. Just like 100, years ago when young children smoked cigarettes for ailments because it was an unknown danger that we didn’t truly understand yet. The fear is that this new form of the ‘healthy option’ is also a killer in disguise.
So lets dive into the technical stuff and show you why this is concerning.
E-cigarettes produce a number of dangerous chemicals including acetaldehyde, acrolein, and formaldehyde. These aldehydes can cause lung disease, as well as cardiovascular (heart) disease. E-cigarettes also contain acrolein, a herbicide primarily used to kill weeds. They also contain diacetyl which causes popcorn lung a disease with a build up of scar tissue from lesions cause frost he build up of these chemicals.
Once you start vaping, you will enjoy the normal feeling of a nicotine rush, but after a while it can give you something called ‘Nic Sic’ which is an awful dizzy nauseous feeling as you build up a tolerance.
The danger is that a chemical in the vape triggers your immune system to shut down and cause complete lung failure. This is in rare cases with a specific component in the vape, but those who go through it will testify to how terrifying of an experience it is as the symptoms are sudden as your lungs suddenly shut down. We do not yet truly understand it, you’re gambling your life every time you vape.
